The clients wanted a clean, modernist house with room for
guests and a private studio in back for the practice of
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. The ground
floor houses bedrooms and a wide hallway that functions as a
social space, opening to an outside garden. The second floor
contains the kitchen, dining room and living room, with large
windows that frame a frontal view of Morrow Bay.
