pumped systems are used only in cases where the area to be irrigated is higher in elevation than the house. typically all greywater fixtures drain to a pump basin located in the basement or crawl-space, where a pump sends the water up to the irrigation lines. these are more elaborate and expensive than other systems but are good for "whole house" systems combining laundry with bathing and sink water. these systems are easier to fine-tune greywater flow to the different irrigation outlets, and fairly easy to modify if you change your landscaping. in some cases a pumped system is the only option. |
